Mark Sullivan is the acclaimed author of eighteen novels, including the #1 New York Times bestselling Private series, which he writes with James Patterson. A incredibly heartwarming story. I live near Innsbruck, Austria and have read many books about World War II involving just about every country. However I knew so little about the war in Italy. All the places of Pino's life are very familiar to me and seem to be out my back door. Mark Sullivan has done a fantastic job in his discriptions, the emotions of a war and the suspense of the events. One really feels the love, loss, horror , regret, fear and even gratitude. Thank you for making Pino's life count and be known for so many others!
A well-written and gripping story. My ultimate measure for a good book is how long it will occupy my mind after I have finished it. And this one will haunt me for a very long time. Thank you Mr. Sullivan for writing this book.

Dieses Buch ist wirklich gut, beeindruckende Geschichte, gut und fesselnd geschrieben - ehrlich gesagt vor allem die erste Hälfte. Aber bis zum Schluß lesenswert!
Spannende Lektüre bis zur letzten Zeile.Auch in der Originalversion leicht zu lesen. Habe schon so manchen Roman über den 2. Weltkrieg gelesen aber die Geschichten waren selten in Italien angesiedelt.
